Amazons
The Amazons of Themyscira are a group of women whose souls were reborn into bodies sculpted by the goddesses of the Ancient Greek pantheon. They make their home on Themyscira, otherwise known as Paradise Island. It is possible to be considered an Amazon without being born one; the Amazons can adopt an individual as their own, as they have in the cases of Gilotina and Lady Blackhawk.
Because of the manipulations of the god Ares, the lost Amazon tribe of Bana-Mighdall came into contact with the Themyscirans. Although the initial communication between the two tribes was violence, eventually cooler heads prevailed and the members of the lost tribe were offered a place on Themyscira, effectively combining both tribes into one.
