Liam very literally has two fathers. One, who he actually thinks of as his mother, was a geneticist who created him in a test tube. Liam's father was the former lover of his 'mother', Murchad, who combined the other man's DNA with his own to create Liam. When Liam was about ten years old his 'mother' died of an incurable illness, and he was left in the care of his surviving father. Will Black II had never known about his son's existence until after Murchad died, and was quick to assume responsiblity for the boy. They had a somewhat rocky first meeting, with Will having to forcibly remove the boy from his 'mother's' house. Two years later, they are finally beginning to bond as father and son.
