The Titans are a group of up-and-coming heroes, many of whom are partners or proteges of older, more established crime-fighters who have banded together to protect the world as well as prove themselves as heroes in their own rights, and not just a bunch of kids in costumes.
They maintain a large roster of young heroes, aged roughly 16-24, and have a fairly good standing in public opinion as well as with the authorities. Membership can be full or part-time depending on the commitment a member wishes to make.

Originally founded by Nightwing, the Titans were eventually disbanded when its members all went their separate ways. Later, it was re-formed by Robin, Speedy, and several other members of Young Justice during the Splintered Worlds affair to ensure that a dark future would not occur because the Titans had failed to do their duty.
